(showing Irving leaning elegantly against a garden urn), 'Henry Irving unveiling the Marlowe memorial at Canterbury - Wednesday 16 Sep 1899', 'Henry working at ? Coriolanus ?Julius C. Ellen Terry's annotations mostly give names and dates, occasionally with quotations ('The Almighty gave, reclaimed, resumed his own!') or exclamations (on Verona: 'Perfection ... Oh! Verona'). An annotation to a print by Edward Gordon Craig notes that it shows 'Little Nelly Terry ... In my first part'. Ellen Terry's association with Sir Henry Irving began in 1878 with a production of Hamlet ; she played the leading female role in all his productions until 1896.
