TEXAS] [LANGWORTHY, ASAHEL]. The Constitution of the Republic of Mexico, and of the State of Coahuila & Texas. Containing also... . New York: Ludewig & Tolefree, 1832. Half green cloth, marbled sides. 8 x 4 7/8 inches (20 x 12.5 cm); 113, [1] pp. Stamp and accession mark of the Bar Association, some pale marginal dampstaining, relatively free from the usual foxing, generally a sound copy. With the name of Wm. Duval in ink at the head of the title; the Duvals were a prominent family in the early days of Texas. Langworthy was a lawyer in New York City, who became a land speculator. He purchased a hundred thousand acres of land from the Galveston Bay and Texas Land Company. Eberstadt 162:478: "An extremely early and important work on Texas, including documents relating to the Galveston Bay and Texas Land Company...and a description of the grants made in 1831 to the Arkansas and Texas Land Company."
