The team worked closely with writer Peter Morgan and the script team from the storylining of a season through to the script stage, and with other departments including the cast, directors, costume, art, and locations departments during filming. They sourced and evaluated all forms of media from books to newspapers and archival footage, as well as consulting with primary sources close to the characters conveyed in the show, to provide the production with a detailed and analytical portrait of the period and characters.
