Title: The Life of Thomas J. Jackson By an Ex-Cadet Author: [McCabe, James D.] Place: Richmond, VA Publisher: James E. Goode Date: 1864 Description: 196 pp. 7¾x5½, original printed wrappers. Second Edition, revised and enlarged by the author. Scarce biography of the legendary General Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson, who contributed greatly to the early victories of the Confederacy in the Civil War before being mortally wounded by fire from his own troops in May of 1863. Much enlarged from the 1863 first edition from the same publisher, which numbered 128 pages. Howes M21; Parrish & Willingham 4938. Lot Amendments Condition: Rubbing and creasing to wrappers, small stain, spine repaired with clear tape, top corner of front wrapper off, other corners dog-eared with chips; some darkening and foxing to contents, pp. 10-15 with offset from item previously laid in, former owner's name partially eradicated from title-page, causing a stain, with a few smaller stains, some pages dogeared, still very good, a fragile book quite uncommon in any condition.
