The Marquee Club Three files of documents relating to the Marquee Club including: - a series of attendance record sheets, the 37 sheets, filled out by hand, cover the period 1st October, 1965 - 18th November 1968, artists include: The Yardbirds, David Bowie The Who, The Small Faces, Simon and Garfunkel, The Cream, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Cat Stevens, John Lee Hooker, Peter Green Yes, Jethro Tull and Muddy Waters, the highest attendance figure recorded was for Jimi Hendrix on 24th January, 1967 with 1,318 people; - a file labelled Commission Ledger Correspondence, Marquee Artists Agency Ltd , containing various typecript correspondence, majority file copies, January - August, 1966, concerning unpaid debts and contracts; - a file containing a quantity of memos, majority typescript on Marquee stationery regarding various audition nights including dates, bands and comments, various dates 4th February, 1969 - 24th June, 1969, bands include Smile [Roger Taylor, Brian May and Tim Staffall pre-Queen], who auditioned on 5th May, 1969, with the observation... anything slightly musical from this group was purely accidental ; a list of artists, agents and addresses; and related material; and - approximately 19 advertising snipes for the 9th National Jazz & Blues Festival , Feltham Hill, Sunbury, 8-10th August, 1969, all -- 14in. (25.5cm.) long (a lot)
