John Wood (1705-1754) was himself a notable and influential architect, whose fame as an architect of the Palladian school rests not merely upon his designs for particular buildings, but even more upon his success in the composition of streets and groups of houses. This copy lacks the title-page, with the title-page and 1st text page of the first part bound preceding the table of contents for the entire work. Very rare in commerce.
