Title: The Rainbow's End: Alaska Author: Henderson, Alice Palmer Place: Chicago & New York Publisher: Herbert S. Stone & Co. Date: 1898 Description: [6], 296 pp. Frontispiece and several photographic plates. 7½x4½, original blue pictorial cloth with title and deocration in gilt and green. First Edition. Dedicated by the author to Mr. Portus B. Weare and this copy inscribed on the dedication page by Mr. Weare to a Mr. Will Dillman. Portus Weare was the principal of the North American Transportation and Trading Co. The firm was based in Chicago, and was instrumental in helping open Alaska and the Klondike to the rush of miners to the region at the end of the 19th century. NAT&T operated stations at all the important outposts in the Yukon Territory and Alaska, as well as providing transportation via their several steamboats. Lot Amendments Condition: Spine a bit faded and with light wear to spine ends, else about very good. Item number: 173394
