The Rothschild Miscellany , London: Facsimile Editions, 1989. 2 volumes, 4to (209 x 155mm). Facsimile volume in colour and heightened in burnished gold; the companion volume with text by Iris Frishof, Shlomo Simonsohn, Israel Ta-Shema, Mirjam Foot, Louisella Mortara-Ottolenghi and others. Original blind-stamped dark purple morocco, the facsimile volume with metal clasps and cloth box (a few light scuffs to spine, box slightly dampstained), the companion volume with slipcase. NUMBER 210 OF 500 COPIES (stamped on binding and loosely inserted limitation slip). The fine facsimile edition of the richly illuminated Rothschild Miscellany, Ms 180/51 in the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Commissioned by Moses ben Yekuthiel Hakohen in 1479 and illuminated in the region of Ferrara, this lavish Renaissance manuscript comprises more than 37 religious and secular works reflecting the customs of Jewish life.
