Title: Thirty-Sixth National Open [Golf] Championship, United States Golf Association, Played on the Course of Fresh Meadow Country Club, Flushing, Long Island, New York, June 23, 24, 25, 1932. Official Program and Championship Year Book Author: Ramsay, H.H., USGA President Place: Flushing, Long Island, NY Publisher: USGA Date: June 1932 Description: 48 pp. Illustrated from photographs, the golf course holes with map drawing and sketch for each, and ads. 11x8½, original silver-foil pictorial wrappers. Rare USGA official program for the 36th U.S. Open, issued before the first round with no scores listed. Gene Sarazen won the event, shooting a 286, the lowest in 20 previous years. He was 7 strokes behind as he came to the 9th tee on the morning of the final day. But, in the final 18 holes he played a 66, the lowest round in the Championship to that date, to win by three strokes. Sarazen had already won the British Open earlier that year. This U.S victory made him the second man, after Jones, who did it twice, to win the British and U.S. Opens all in the same year. Fresh Meadow Country Club was designed by the great A.W. Tillinghast, of which there is an article devoted to him. Lot Amendments Condition: Some rubbing, two 3" pieces from a glassine affixed to spine, ends a bit chipped and starting to split, a few small creases; contents clean and intact; else very good or better. Difficult to obtain in such nice condition with the foil wrappers. Item number: 170703
