FIRST EDITION of the celebrated botanist's voyage to, and in, Turkey at the command of Louis XIV, a voyage that took over two years, but unfortunately did not include Syria and Egypt owing to the plague. During the voyage Tournefort brought back 1,350 plants, mostly unknown in Europe. His nomenclature was later to influence Linnaeus.
