Travel and Exploration Relating to the Marquasas, Pitcairn, Easter Island: An important archive of ephemera and artifacts relating to The Sayer Family, three volumes, one leather bound containing a collection of 18th and 19th Century prints, engravings and scraps, one marbled paper bound volume compiled by Miss Sayer being typical Georgian lady's scrapbook containing engravings of scenes, portraits and costume, hand written anecdotes, poetry extracts, original verses and epitaphs, one journal by Robert Sayer commencing in 1806 including contemporary transcripts of letters sent and received, many with references to a variety of ships, frigates and sloops, including HMS Victory, Jupiter and Ariadne, included in the volume Robert Sayer's commission appointing him as lieutenant to HMS Victory, together with a small cabinet of drawers, two containing a variety of sea shells, one with mineral samples, many labelled from Chile, Bolivia, San Francisco etc, one with a variety of artefacts including locks of hair in labelled parchment, one relating to Bounty mutiny, items from Easter Island and the Pitcairns, two complete and one damaged early Polynesian fish hooks, examples of which can be found in the Cook-Forster collection, National Museum of Australia, miniature hand written book, an 1848 Queen Victorian Naval General Service medal with Java bar named Robert Sayer Mid Shipman etc Provenance: Consigned by a direct descendant of the original owners, The Sayer Family
