Troodon Cretaceous Central Asia A rare species in the fossil record, Troodon possessed the largest brain, relative to its size, of any dinosaur. A small predatory dinosaur which grew to approximately six feet in length, it was fast-moving, with long, slender limbs. Like Velociraptor, Troodon possessed large, sharp, retractable, sickle-shaped claws on its second toe. It was feathered, with long, folded arms, like those of a bird, with very large eyes (indicating that it may have been nocturnal) and excellent hearing and binocular vision. A complete Troodon nest contained between 34-40 eggs, laid in pairs. Found buried in the Gobi Desert, each of the present specimens measure approximately 3 x 1 ½ inches. The matrix has been removed with the aid of specialized tools and a microscope to reveal the textured ratitie surface. The eggs may have hatched, or, the collapse of some of them may simply be indicative of their fragility; the Troodon eggshell is extremely thin, measuring only 1mm, and does not preserve well. These delicate eggs were laid in sand while the animal was standing and still retain their original positions in red stone matrix. 30-50 percent of their original thin shell is present. The discovery of partial embryos in similar eggs have allowed for the identification of the eggs of this species. Here is a unique opportunity to acquire extremely rare dinosaur eggs, from a known, rare dinosaur. A covetable acquisition for any dinosauria collection. Matrix measures 11 x 9in
