Lot Description: Two 19th Century European Hand-Quilted and Beautifully Beaded Caps in a similar style, one fractionally smaller than the other. Uncommon, in dyed shades of brown or green, with regular quilting, both bound with dark brown velvet. The green cap, slightly larger, is formed from two hand stitched panels, being a shaped back and a single panel for the crown and sides. The green cotton, lined in two shades of heavy linen, is beaded to the cap back, and front side points with several colours of glass beads, the side panels identical, the back panel featuring a larger flower. The dark brown cap is formed from three panels, a seam joining the side panels. The beadwork, again located to cap back and side panels, is slightly more striking and on a larger scale. Condition Report: . The green cap is slightly worn through near the neck, revealing white stuffing. The green dye is faded in several places, possibly due to humidity in storage.
