1st Lieut. Henry C. Bissell, Co. A., by "Armstead & White, Corinth," marked on verso identified from album, together with 1st Lieut. Edward P. Barrett, Co. G., no back mark, with period pencil salutation and signature. Both officers saw active service with the 50th Illinois in the western theater with Bissell resigning in September 1864 and Barrett in July 1865. The regiment was organized at Quincy and served in the 13th, 16th and 15th Corps. It fought at Shiloh, Corinth, Grant's Central Mississippi campaign, Atlanta and in the Carolinas loosing 62 men killed and wounded. Condition: Both cartes VG with minor foxing to mounts.
