Two Indian matchlock guns late 18th Century The first with 15-bore russet sighted barrel with shaped muzzle, decorated at intervals with gold-damascened Koftgari panels of flowers, foliage, and chequerwork, involving on the breech, the inscription 'Datia State', and retained by silver wire bindings over silver panels embossed with flowers and foliage in relief, hardwood three-quarter stock (broken) with applied embossed silver panels, iron side-plates decorated with gold Koftgari work, gold-damascened trigger and match-holder, and original iron ramrod with gold-damascened tip; the second with 25-bore twist sighted barrel retaining some gold-damascened decoration at the muzzle and breech and retained by five silver bands, the rearmost fitting around the standing back-sight, slender hardwood three-quarter stock with shaped silver side-plates, gold-damascened match-holder, pierced gilt-brass trigger, and iron ramrod, probably original (butt-plate missing) 42¼in. (107.9cm.) and 48½in. (123.2cm.) barrels (2)
