Two Schneider Glass Vases Circa 1930-50 From the Bourrelet series, comprising one of ovoid form, in colorless glass shading to cobalt blue, and the other of tapering cylindrical form, in colorless and cobalt glass, each with applied trailed decoration. Height of taller 8 5/8 inches. C Sold by the Museum of Fine Arts Boston for the benefit of the Collection
A. Ovoid Vase (smaller example): appears to be in generally good condition; no apparent rim chips, nicks, flake losses, hairline cracks, etc; no stress cracks in the area where the applied glass decoration comes in contact with the body; there is a short somewhat deep scratch mark to the exterior side on the shoulder; some other light scratch marks, not of any consequence; interior appears nice and clean, i.e, no cloudiness, however, there is some dirt residue at the bottom that should clean away; there are few tiny pinhead sized internally trapped air bubbles, in the making and not of any consequence; there is a small shallow loss to the glass near the outer side rim edge, which appears to be a result of the acid etching process rather than a flake loss; partial remnants of a retailer's foil label is affixed to the underside, EMILE PUGET FILS, signed on the underside SCHNEIDER; museum accession number on the underside has been cancelled B. Tapering Cylindrical Vase appears to be in generally good condition; no apparent nicks, chips, flake losses, hairline cracks etc.; no stress cracks in the area where the applied decoration comes into contact with the body; there is a somewhat large size internally trapped air bubble and a few other tiny pin head sized trapped air bubbles elsewhere, in the making, and not of any consequence; the interior is nice and clean; there is a small embedded particle inclusion or burst air bubble on the interior side of the body near the bottom, which feels somewhat rough to the touch, however, it appears to be in the making rather than a later fracture; surface scratches to the underside, appropriate to age and usage; signed SCHNEIDER, along the bottom edge; museum accession number on the underside is cancelled
