TY COBB HANDWRITTEN LETTER
TY COBB HANDWRITTEN LETTER Three-page handwritten letter dated March 29th, 1954 on Tyrus R. Cobb stationary from Hall of Famer Ty Cobb (1886-1961) to an inquirer regarding Cobb’s thoughts on the Hall of Fame and his personal baseball memorabilia. Cobb writes I have often wondered did many or anyone observe what I saw and knew to be so plainly shown per New York sports writers (some) in their apparent desire to get good old Babe a place ahead of me?...I happened to be the first voted in, also by the all but 2 or 4 votes of either 224 or 226 total, this of course you may never see from the N.Y. boys (again I say not all)…No one was more sentimental of gloves, shoes, uniforms, etc. than I, and I kept many, but also I had three boys and they had many playmates etc. in Augusta, Ga where I lived, these baseball things were not under lock & key . Signed Ty Cobb in green ink. 7 1/4 x 10 1/2 in.
