He became a member of the Real Academia Española and received the title of Don Chantreau thanks to the French grammar he published for Hispanics. Back in France, he joined the revolutionary ideas movement and became an employee at the libraries section of the Committee of Public Instruction. He proposed the creation of an educational newspaper "Les Documents de la raison, feuille antifanatique" and wrote the Courrier du département du Gers. Trolle-Bonde inherited Säfstaholms in rebuilt the house and expanded the library and art collection. The library was sold in and is now an art museum.
