Very interesting late 18th century violin attributed to the Landolfi School, Milan circa 1790, labelled Antonius Stradivarius..., the two piece back of fine faint curl with similar wood to the sides, the head of plainish wood, the table of a fine width grain slightly widening to the flanks and the varnish of a light reddish-brown colour on a golden ground, 13 15/16", 35.40cm, two bows, case **This violin is sold with two insurance valuations from Edward Smith (formerly of J & A Beare for £17500 dated 18th August 2006 and for £35000 dated 30th October 2006) *There is also a repair receipt from Edward Smith dated 18th August 2006 Generally condition appears reasonable with no serious damage, there is a hairline crack running from the edge of the lower bouts underneath the chin rest to the top of the F-hole i on the bass side, grafted head, there has been some over varnishing as well to the centre of the table and touching up in other places, see images for guidance, personal viewing always advised
