Victorian Sterling Silver Tea and Coffee Service J. McKay, Edinburgh, 1857 Comprising a teapot, coffee pot, cream jug, sugar bowl and kettle on stand, each baluster-form, the spiral fluting with foliate chased panels. Height of coffee pot 12 inches (30 cm), height of kettle on stand 16 1/2 inches (41.8 cm), total approximately 137 ounces. Provenance: John Wanamaker, Philadelphia, 1941 C Property of a Private Philadelphia Collection
Good condition overall with light surface marking and small dents as expected from casual use; the kettle engraved with arms, the other pieces with crests, all with later script monogram to other side; the teapot crest engraved over a soft erasure, now solder strengthened and showing to interior; teapot with old repair to body showing to interior; clearly hallmarked Teapot 12 in. long Coffee pot 12 in. ht. Kettle on stand 16 in. ht. Cream jug 7 1/4 in. ht. Sugar bowl 5 1/2 in. dia. SOLD WITH THE ORIGINAL ADVERTISEMENT AND INVOICE USED TO ACQUIRE CITES PERMIT TO ENABLE SALE IN NEW YORK STATE
