Filming took place mainly in east London and Cambridgeshire and the story follows the career of a platoon of U.S. Marines through their military training focusing on the experiences of two Marines in the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War; Terry's character, Lieutenant Lockhart, is a Public Affairs Officer charged with managing the reporting of the war for consumption in the USA.
