VINTAGE US ARMY VIETNAM HELMET AND 'FULL METAL JACKET' SCRIPT Released 1987 A pair of items associated with the character 'Lieutenant Lockhart' played by John Terry in the film Full Metal Jacket comprising: the full shooting script for the film, entitled Full Metal Jacket. Screenplay by Stanley Kubrick and Michael Herr with Additional Dialogue by Gustav Hasford with paper cover and securing studs, handwritten annotations by the actor with acting direction and scene notes for filming; an authentic US Vietnam era combat helmet used during filming, with cloth camouflage cover and canvas securing strap marked 'Band, Helmet, Camouflage U.S.', fibreglass inner, canvas spider and leather-trimmed brow band, chinstrap with metal closure. 2.4 kg total, script: 30 x 21.5cm (11 3/4 x 8 1/2"). Footnotes The film Full Metal Jacket was released in 1987, directed and produced by Stanley Kubrick based on Gustav Hasford's 1979 novel The Short-Timers; the film launched the careers of actors such as Matthew Modine, Adam Baldwin and others. Filming took place mainly in east London and Cambridgeshire and the story follows the career of a platoon of U.S. Marines through their military training focusing on the experiences of two Marines in the Tet Offensive in the Vietnam War; Terry's character, Lieutenant Lockhart, is a Public Affairs Officer charged with managing the reporting of the war for consumption in the USA. The film was nominated for numerous awards and won five: JohnTerry has also appeared as Felix Leiter in The Living Daylights and other roles.
