(Some very slight soiling, edges trimmed touching marginalia on a few leaves.) Early 19th-century red straight-grained morocco, covers blocked in blind with gilt fillet, spine blindstamped in compartments with gilt decoration (slightly faded and scuffed at extremities, small wormhole in lower spine), g.e. Provenance : Philander (signature on title, possibly that of the French editor of 1552 Lyons edition of Vitruvius); M. Dupont (signature on title); John Charrington (booklabel, with ? his pencil inscription on end-paper 'Bought of Wm Brown Oct 1909'). A new typesetting, in italics, of the 1513 Giunta edition, edited by the Dominican friar Giovanni Giocondo of Verona (1435-1515), an important figure among early Renaissance antiquaries.
