Beschreibung:

Good- (1.8). Nice copy for this grade. Cover detached at bottom staple, top staple pulled but holding, ¾" split at bottom spine, tiny nicks and losses to edges and corners, 1" tear to back cover, a few small rubbed spots, some color loss to red at top right edge of front cover. Cream to off-white pages. Cover: Chuck Cuidera? Art: Charles Nicholas Chuck Cuidera?, Jack Cole? GPAnalysis: No recorded sales in this grade. Only three sales in any grade. Lowest-graded copy: A 4.5 sold for $279 in June 2019. Quality was best known for its superhero and military-action mags, but in the pre-Code era, superheroes and army men just didn't cut it any longer: it fell to the dead to avenge wrongs. The avenging spectre depicted on this mag's cover is a typical example of what we can consider, in pre-Code metaphysics, the righteous dead — murder victims who rise from the grave to punish their killers. The cover art, probably by Chuck Cuidera, is somewhat evocative of Al Feldstein in both its stiffness and its compositional economy. A deluxe limited edition of 12 hardcover catalogues is available, in addition to a small number of softcovers. 400 lots, fully illustrated. Fun reference, great keepsake. Softcover $40, deluxe hardcover with dust jacket and limitation plate $200. Eight of the 12 hardcovers are pre-ordered and the rest will go quickly, so reserve yours now. To order, contact [email protected] . Consignments welcome for PBA's Spring 2022 Comic Book sale. Top prices for Pre-Code Horror, Golden Age, Silver Age, original art and ephemera.
