Quality was best known for its superhero and military-action mags, but in the pre-Code era, superheroes and army men just didn't cut it any longer: it fell to the dead to avenge wrongs. The avenging spectre depicted on this mag's cover is a typical example of what we can consider, in pre-Code metaphysics, the righteous dead — murder victims who rise from the grave to punish their killers. The cover art, probably by Chuck Cuidera, is somewhat evocative of Al Feldstein in both its stiffness and its compositional economy.
