Lot of 3, including: Lubbock, Francis R. (1815-1905). Wartime Governor of Texas (1861-63) and CSA colonel and aide-de-camp for Jefferson Davis. ALS "F.R. Lubbock" as Texas State Treasurer (1878-1891), 1p, 8 x 10.25 in., Austin, Texas. September 23, 1887. Addressed to Ed C. Baker of Palo Pinto, Texas on Texas Treasury Department letterhead. Letter concerns the issuance of a corrected financial payment. Creasing as expected, with some brown staining/discoloration to edges. Dana, James Jackson (1821-1898). Civil War Union Brevet Brigadier General, Quartermaster Department. ALS "J.J. Dana / Bvt. Brig. Gn'l & GM / Chief Quartermaster," 1p, 7.5 x 9.75 in., Santa Fe, New Mexico. February 6, 1880. Addressed to B. Perry of Woodbury, New Jersey on "Headquarters District of New Mexico / Office of the Chief Quartermaster" letterhead. Dana acknowledges receipt of a postcard. A brief history of Dana's military career - including promotions and service at Chancellorsville and Gettysburg - is inscribed along bottom edge in period ink. Spotting over the "b" of "Gettysburg." Stanford, Amasa Leland (1824-1893). American railroad tycoon, politician, and founder of Stanford University. Clipped signature as United States Senator from California (1885-1893), 3.25 x 1.75 in., "Washington March 26 / 85 / Leland Stanford / of / California."
