Green Outside ... with decorations by Rex Whistler, London: Chatto & Windus, [1931]. 4° (206 x 159mm.), coloured frontispiece and illustrations by Rex Whistler, original bright green buckram with title stamped in blind on the upper cover and in gilt on the spine, dust-jacket. Inserted into the book are THE COMPLETE SET OF REX WHISTLER'S ORIGINAL ILLUSTRATIONS. These include a fine original watercolour (which, as the frontispiece of the printed book, bears the title "Extremely Naughty Children") and a total of 28 original pen and ink drawings, each on a separate leaf, including 2 full-page designs for the title page. All of the illustrations, which, according to the dust-jacket of the printed book, 'present a perfect combination of humour and daintiness,' are signed by Whistler. Also included in the lot is another copy of the book in its final published form. The 2 books are contained in a green morocco and cloth slipcase by Bumpus. (2)
