Original olive-brown buckram, gilt-lettered on spine, t.e.g. (a few light spots to cloth, hinges lightly rubbed, endpapers somewhat discolored, slightly shaken). Provenance : Sir Thomas George Freake (bookplate). LIMITED EDITION, number 165 of 600 copies SIGNED BY WHITMAN on the title-page. This copy is bound in binding C, "probably bound and issued in England." David McKay received three batches of 50 copies each which were bound in buckram, as here, rather than boards for the American issues. BAL 21431 (Binding C); Meyerson A2.7.m (Binding C).
