Oil on canvas, the vessel shown under full sail traveling from right to left in New York Harbor, Castle William off its starboard bow, a steam/sail vessel off its starboard stern, the vessel identified on a pennant and quarterboards, 26 x 36 in., in a molded giltwood frame. Condition: Relined, restretched, inpainting. Note: A gilt plaque affixed to the frame indicates that the Monrovia, under Captain Henry Rogers made fifty-four round trip voyages to Sierra Leone and Liberia, liberating slaves.
