Beschreibung:

Lot of two, including: Happy Billy Possum's Prosperity Puzzle, by the National Novelty Co. of Worcester, Mass. A 7 x 7.25 x 1.125 in. high box with an illustration in the inner bottom featuring Billy Possum, Teddy Bear, patriotic symbols, joking captions and an poor African American family from Georgia, as well as a raised likeness of Taft and a wire frame around the image of the White House. The object of the game is to take the four supplied marbles, or "possums," and tilt the box so that they travel into Taft's mouth, out of his forehead, and into the White House. Game of Billy Possum (no publisher's credit). An 8.25 x 14.25 x 1 in. high box with a printed game board on the inner bottom. The game seems to have little relation to Taft or politics in general besides the printed cover depicting a girl playing with a possum while a teddy bear cries at her feet. Provenance: Jim and Pat Gifford Collection of Political Americana Condition: First with some light soiling and shelf wear, else very good. Second with soiling and water stains on the outside and scattered black spotting on the inside.
