40-65 caliber, serial number 42784, 28" octagonal barrel stamped on top Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven, Conn. U.S.A. and 40-65 W.C.F. Tang stamped Model 1886. Rear of trigger guard stamped Pat. Oct. 14, 1884/Jan. 20, 1885. Single-set trigger. 28" barrel is two inches longer than the standard 26". Factory records indicate this rifle was shipped and received in 1890 with 28" barrel, set trigger, and .40-65 caliber. Condition: Barrel and magazine tube has a blue finish which has turned to a plum brown. Receiver region is a darkened brown in color with some silver coloration showing. Finish on stock is original with expected dings and mars and darkened from oil. Bore is dirty, but could be cleaned to good.
