WITCHCRAFT] GLANVIL, JOSEPH. Sadducismus Triumphatus: or, a full and plain evidence, concerning witches and apparitions. In two parts. The first treating of their possibility. The second of their real existence . London: printed for A. Bettesworth, et al, 1726. Stated fourth edition. In a remboitage, a French armorial binding, elaborately tooled in gilt and with the arms of Marie Leszczynska to the covers, the spine with a contemporary red morocco lettering label likely from an early English binding, later watered silk pastedowns and endpapers. 7 5/8 x 4 1/2 inches (20 x 12 cm); [12], 35, [10], 498 pp. 4pp., ads at rear, the title in red and black, 3 engraved plates, in text illustration and woodcut head and tail-pieces. The joints and hinges work from recasing, some early notation to the front blank, and intermittently throughout, light spotting and toning.
