One of 2062 sets, printed at the Ballantyne Press, Edinburgh. Library Edition. The sumptuous and sought-after Library Edition of Ruskin's works, presenting the full range of his literary, artistic, and philosophic genius, superbly printed on fine paper, in the desirable full morocco binding. Accompanied, as issued, by an autograph letter signed by Ruskin, dated 1875, on both sides of 7x4½" sheet of his Brantwood letterhead, apparently to his publisher, discussing several works on progress. Loose in original gilt-lettered morocco folder. (The letter is creased, paperclipped to typed transcript, with small clip stain.) Lot Amendments Condition: Fading to about seven of the spines, others only slightly so, a few with minor rubbing or small stains to spines; near fine condition, contents immaculate.
