Lot of 4 silver gelatin photographs, 6.5 x 9 in., originally produced by the US Signal Corps, with 3 showing World War I flying aces in front of their planes, each with inked inscription. The aces were members of the American Expeditionary Force and include: Lt. F.E. Kindley, "just before a flight over the lines, France;" Lt. Elliot W. Springs "a terror to the Huns," the fifth-ranking American ace of World War I; Lt. Harry Jenkinson, "An American Ace;" and an image of planes in "V"-shape formation. Condition: Most appear to have been pasted into a scrapbook at one point and cut out. remnants of the paper are on the reverse.
