World War I U.S. Army Identified Medical Corps Officer's Uniform Group.

This extensive group is identified to Captain Edward W. zur Horst who served at Base Hospital 27 in France during World War I. The group consists of his French made wool tunic named in the breast pocket, tunic displays “US”, Medical Corps and captain's rank insignia. Left cuff with three gold overseas chevrons, black leather “Sam Brown” belt, Officer's visor cap named to zur Horst on the crown lining, wool garrison cap with maroon piping, pair high top leather officer's boots with attached spurs and large grey wool Medical Corps blanket. Group also contains original service related paperwork including zur Horst's service records, orders and manuals. Also included are zur Horst's field surgical set housed in canvas pouch, leather case containing glass vials of chemical compounds, US Army leather case containing hard rubber vials containing chemical compounds, brass scale contained in wood case, weights for scale also contained in a wood case, various bandages and medical instruments. The tunic shows moderate wear and a few stains remainder of the material is in very good condition. Condition: (Very Good). Name Value Paperwork
