Lot of 12 press photographs, 8 x 10 in. including border, featuring Adolf Hitler, female German film director Leni Riefenstahl and various Nazi leaders including Heinrich Himmler and Hermann Göring. 11 images feature a United Press International stamp on verso. Highlights include a view of a Nazi ceremony taking place in the middle of a street, complete with Adolf Hitler at the center surrounded by other Nazi officials, swastika flags, banners, and what appear to be torches; a view of Adolf Hitler walking between rows of saluting Nazi soldiers, some of whom are sporting visibly excited and triumphant facial expressions; a view of a large Nazi celebration with Adolf Hitler, Hermann Göring, Heinrich Himmler, and other Nazi leaders featured in the foreground and a large crowd and numerous swastika banners in the background; and three images featuring Leni Riefenstahl with a camera, telescope, and Adolf Hitler himself, respectively. Helene Bertha Amalie "Leni" Riefenstahl (1902-2003) was the director of the notorious 1930s propaganda films, Triumph of the Will and Olympia. Though the nature of her relationship with Adolf Hitler is not entirely certain, many have speculated that she was a part of his inner circle. Though she was not associated with war crimes, she was labeled a Nazi sympathizer after the war. The consignor relates that these prints were produced from the original negatives, ca mid-20th century, and acquired directly from a former employee of the Library of Congress, who worked with the institution in the 1960s. Condition: Photographs in good condition, a few with additional inscriptions and/or labels on verso (three of which incorrectly identify Leni Riefenstahl as Eva Braun).
