Lot of 15 silver gelatin photographs, most approx. 6.5 x 9.5 in., relating to the liberation of Paris by the French resistance, August 19-24, 1944. All but 3 include “Photo-Presse-Liberation” hand stamp on verso or typed, applied paper label. Scenes include Americans marching through the Arc de Triomphe on Champs Elysee; several of large numbers of troops entering Paris; the city during the Battle for the liberation of the city, with varying degrees of damage to the buildings; Parisians building barricades against the Germans; Americans on a tank on the street talking to French citizens, with "captured" German helmets on the front; Americans and French patrolling the streets; German soldier in full battle dress, "armed to the teeth"; four photos of German officers captured by French resistance fighters, disarmed and being marched off to destinations unknown. Condition: Most in very good condition. Minor handling wear.
