A collection of x3 rare original WWI First World War French ' Nail ' trench daggers / fighting knives. First appearing in 1914. Crude steel construction knuckleduster handled spike daggers. Likely self-made. Longest approx; 34cm long. The French Nails were locally fabricated and converted bayonets, knives and stabbing weapons for use in the First World War. These were crude stabbing spikes made by adding a point to a steel stake which had its rearmost section heated and bent into a crude handle.
