The Mondial, or, to give the full title, the FB Mondial, was a post-war Italian success story. Fratelli Boselli (Boselli Brothers) of Milan had been mostly makers of industrial vehicles until Count Boselli decided to go motorcycle racing. To this end he employed the experienced Ing. Alfonso Drusiani to pen the company’s very high-revving dohc 125 singles, greatly effective in the period 1948-56 in the hands of Pagani and Ubbiali and TT winners in 1951. After this the firm also concentrated on road machines, always noted for their beautiful castings and overall finish. This is one of those rare machines, a 200cc ohc ‘Sport’, to a mechanical specification which strongly recalled the company’s racers, as did the running-gear, making a typically Italian ‘racer for the road’. In excellent condition, this example was purchased by the vendor’s late father. Never registered or used, it was always kept in sympathetic storage, though no paperwork has yet been found. It has the company’s characteristic jewel-like castings and forward-mounted kick-start. To original specification and in very good running order, this rare and sporty lightweight will need to be registered and safety checks carried out, though neither of these should present any problems.
