Jawa and CZ were originally quite separate operations within Czechoslovakia but, in the Iron Curtain era, were frequently distributed side-by-side overseas, including the UK. Competent firms, both, but in reality they were located a couple of hundred miles apart and, given a free hand, did not produce identical machines. In 1981, though, there was a compulsory amalgamation, where after it was the Jawa name on the fuel tank, with CZ power beneath! In fact the 350 Jawa Twin [seen here] has its engine sourced from CZ. Under normal conditions the neat open-style Velorex sidecar will not prove a strain for the machine's duplex frame, although the twin leading shoe front anchor might possibly overheat, two up, in mountainous terrain, with a plump passenger!
