A Three-Case Lacquer Inro and a Lacquer Portable Writing Case ( Yatate ) ** The first Edo Period (19th Century), with Signature Yangzhou Shao Mao Lun Zhuang Qian Long Ji Mao Chu (Made by Shao Mao Lun of Yangzhou in the Spring of the Year Ji Mao, Qian Long Period [1759]) and with Seals Dun Shan The rounded rectangular inro decorated in the style of laque burgauté with inlaid iridescent shell on a black lacquer ground, one side with Chinese figures in a landscape, and the other with a rider and attendant crossing a bridge, the interior in red lacquer; fitted with a coral bead ojime and an ivory ryusa netsuke carved with a pagoda and shrine gate, signature illegible; the writing case of lacquered fabric, the surface finished to simulate polished wood, with metal fittings, the cover hinged at the bottom and with a threaded latch closure at the top, and with an ivory fan-shaped brush box incised with a Chinese landscape and poems connected to the case with a metal chain 3½in.
