ADAM KUCHENREUTER, REGENSBURG A FINE 22-BORE PERCUSSION OVER-UNDER SPORTING-RIFLE, no visible serial number, circa 1850, with browned 30in. rifled barrels, the left hand rib convex, the right hand sunken with provision for ramrod (present), the top of barrel signed in silver 'ADAM KUCHENREUTER IN REGENSBURG' together with an oval silver poincon of a standing stag, bead fore-sight on a moulded ramp, dove-tailed rear-sight with additional folding leaf, white metal bands at breech, carved and engraved percussion fences and snails, screwed plugs with square sockets, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang with central 'cigar-band' rectangular escutcheon, border and scroll engraved back-action locks with moulded irregular edges and rotating hammer-block safes forwards of the hammers, figured walnut half-stock with finely chequered wrist, raised roll-edge cheek-piece, carved wood patchbox to right hand side, iron heel-plate with scroll engraved detail, moulded horn trigger-guard tang cover, scrolled trigger-guard bow, set trigger to bottom barrel, provision for sling, the whole expertly restored
