An English ebonised and brass-mounted striking and musical table clock for the German market George Phillip Strigel, London. Circa 1780 The case with brass-lined base and caryatid mounts to all angles, brass-lined doors and brass-lined glass side panels, silk backed engraved brass frets to front and rear doors, the dial with foliate spandrels to silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with date and mock pendulum apertures, blued steel later hands, the arch with six tune selection panel (German inscriptions) above subsidiary rings for strike/silent and chime/not chime, with a recessed silvered plaque between signed George Phillip/Strigels/LONDON , the eight day triple wire fusee movement with six pillars, restored verge escapement, with hour strike on single bell and music on thirteen bells (some replaced) via twenty-three hammers, the 15cm. long pin barrel positioned across the top of a back plate engraved with foliate scrolls, with trips for hours and music; movement with restorations 47cm. high to fold of handle
