Apparently an anonymous adaptation of the Index nominum included in Estienne's first edition of the Bible, published in Paris in 1528, and considered the "earliest genuine attempt at a critical edition of the Vulgate text" (Schreiber, p. 51). Estienne published the index separately in 1537. The present edition was published conjointly by Zeuer (or Severszoon) and the printer Wilhem Vorsterman, this Zeuer issue being the more uncommon.
