Showing the city and surrounding hills, Madonna standing in glory flanked by angels and Saints Bernardino and Catherine, arms of the Medici and of Siena at each upper corner, text relating to the history of Siena inset along lower margin, Abscondi non potest civitas supra montem posita in banner along upper margin. (Some light spotting and slight discolouration.) A clear dark impression of this fine view of the city and its miriad of towers and walls. The legend is by Orlando Malavolta, author of Dell'Historia di Siena , which was published by Luca Bonetti in 1574. Watermark, Woodward 111.
