Garfield, Hannibal Hamlin (as Vice-President, 1864), James G. Blaine (Garfield's Secretary of State), John H. Stuart Lincoln's first law partner), Schuyler Colfax (Speaker of the House), Fernando Wood (Nerw York Mayor), Thaddeus Stevens, George Boutwell, Charles Sumner, etc. -- FORTY-SEVENTH CONGRESS. Autograph album containing some 400 signatures from the 47th Congress (4 March 1881-3 March 1883), written in ink on 282 pages of an autograph album, red morocco, elaborately gilt, gilt edges, spine rubbed , containing signatures of PRESIDENT CHESTER A. ARTHUR and most of his cabinet, including Robert Todd Lincoln (Secretary of War), plus future President Benjamin Harrison, David Davis (friend and ally of Abraham Lincoln), H.A.W. Taber of Colorado, Wade Hampton (South Carolina former Confederate), and John Sherman (brother of General William Tecumseh Sherman); together two items. (2)
