Half title and title printed in red and black, 53 plates by Thomas Bewick illustrations (some very light mainly marginal spotting and browning). Original black morocco lettered in gilt, spine with raised bands, top edges gilt (very lightly rubbed and stained). Provenance : partly-illegible presentation inscription from "J.D." dated 1887; loosely-inserted publisher's slip inscribed "This volume has been left over owing to a subscriber not wanting it. No. 21." LARGE PAPER COPY. NUMBER 21 OF AN UNSPECIFIED LIMITATION. With Robert Robinson's Thomas Bewick His Life and Times (Newcastle, 1887) and Bewick's Select Fables of Aesop and Others (Edinburgh, 1879, NUMBER 34 OF 100 'EDITION DE LUXE' COPIES). (3)
