(Lacking general title (A1) and following 3 leaves (A2-4), 2 leaves from the Calendar, March-June (C2-3), Z5 and the last three leaves (Aa4-6) of the New Testament, also lacking the first gathering (A6) of the Genealogies and the map of Palestine, some margins frayed or with short tears, B1 of Genealogies torn with loss, a few leaves detached, some short marginal tears, lightly soiled or browned, some leaves lightly waterstained.) Contemporary blind-stamped panelled calf, later metal cornerpieces and reinforcements along the joints (lacking clasps, spine worn, quite rubbed and scuffed, lacking one cornerpiece on front cover and 3 on back cover). Provenance : Simeon Bradley (ownership inscription on pastedown, dated 8 February 1830) --James Hartshorne (inscription on C2 of Genealogies) SECOND FOLIO EDITION OF THE AUTHORISED VERSION OF THE KING JAMES'S BIBLE, also known as the "Great She Bible" for the more correct reading 'She went into the citie' in Ruth iii 15, but with the misprint in Matt xxvi 36, where 'Judas' appears for 'Jesus'. No new English translation was produced until the Revised Version of 1881 and the Authorised Version, the work of over 40 translators divided into five committees based at Oxford, Cambridge and London, undoubtedly has a greater influence on written and spoken English than any other book.
