The library of John Byrom, poet, diarist, and inventor of a well-known system of stenography, "of which only a few copies are now printed for private circulation." Byrom was a kind of Boswell to William Law the mystic. The catalogue of his library, still preserved at that time in his house owned by his descendents, "contains a valuable list of contemporary and earlier mystical books, tracts and pamphlets."
