Xylographic title, woodcut double-page map of Brescia and environs, 13 woodcut historiated and ornamental initials. (Map on guard with a few MS. corrections, very small stain in last leaf.) Early limp vellum with yapp edge, title written on upper cover, shelfmark and labels on spine, two fore-edge ties (small, light stains). Provenance : early inscription on title partly erased; Antonius Maria (early inscription on flyleaf). FIRST EDITION, containing the earliest printed map of Brescia and its vicinity. Capriolo's history of Brescia begins with the foundation of the city and ends with events in his own time; he relates stories of the Christian martyrs, invasion of the Goths, and struggles between the Guelph and Ghibelline families.
