Contemporary French red morocco, flat spine gilt to a lozenge pattern with a small flower tool in each lozenge, triple line border round sides, gilt turn-ins, gilt edges, near contemporary ticket of Théophile Barrois, fils, libraire (slightly damaged). FIRST EDITION. Rothschild 589; Hayward 188. PARNELL, Thomas (1679-1718). Poems on Several Occasions . London: H. Lintot, 1737. 2 parts in one volume, 8°, woodcut head- and tailpieces (a little spotting and soiling). Contemporary sprinkled calf gilt (a little rubbed, corners bumped). Provenance : Abel Smith (bookplate) -- Peter Cary, 1945 (signature). (2)
