One of the most celebrated memoirs of early American seafaring and circumnavigations by a merchant mariner who began his career as a privateer. He called at the N.W. Falklands on his passage round Cape Horn from Boston in 1800 when Spain had firm control of the East Falklands. So exciting were his adventures that Herman Melville drew on them for 'Benito Cereno.'
